Grown Ups 2 (2013) Review by thejoshl from Toronto, ON
Grown Ups 2 is the laziest, most insulting excuse for a comedy inrecent memory. This movie is literally a giant middle finger to anyonewho hands his or her cash over in exchange for a ticket. If you somehowmanage to stumble into a screening of this senseless sequel I highlysuggest you sit on your hands so you don't accidentally eat your ownhands in an attempt to punish SOMETHING for this horrendous piece oftrash making it to the big screen.
Just when you think Adam Sandler can't sink any lower like we all didwith Grown Ups he and his production company Happy Madison make aneven less funny and less plot driven joke of a movie that only out doesthe original in amount of times I felt second-hand embarrassment forthe people on screen, not for the characters but for the actors.
The gang is back (minus the oh so lovable Rob Schneider) and we followthem over the course of a single day as they blow off work, their wivesand their kids and treat us to 101 minutes of sexism, homophobia andproduct placement. If you ever wanted to see a CGI deer urinate on AdamSandler's face than this is the movie for you. I give them some credit;the deer, being the opening scene of movie, does a great job settingthe tone of the movie and its nonsensical and seemingly bottomlessfascination with toilet humour.
The low-brow humour isn't the REAL problem here though. If you'refamiliar with any work from the "Apatow gang" you should be aware thatthe right amount of toilet humour can actually improve your movie likewe saw in this years widely loved R-rated comedy "This Is The End". Thereal issue with "Grown Ups 2" derives from the films innate ability tonot add context to any of the gags. The film is a continuous spewage ofs**t covered improv that could have been written by a poorly behaved 12year old, however it's more likely that the film never really made itto the script process and the cast just sort of made up the plot asthey were going along.
I hope the majority of the cameos just happened to stumble on set andweren't specifically given their parts because none of them were in theright place or used to their advantages. It's as if the crew behind"Grown Ups 2" wanted to make the most juvenile and revolting moviepossible, and at the same time show us how easy it was to achieve.
The worst part of this abysmal waste of time is that it doesn't juststick with gags. At least then we could compare it movies like "Movie43" or "Scary Movie 5" in which it might stand a chance, but this isnot the case. 15 of the 101 minutes is devoted to the least sincereattempt at family sentiment I've ever seen, and this grave mistake ontheir part is why I'm forced to compare it to other "dramadies", agenre that until now has been increasing in quality. One step forwardin the comedy world and Adam Sandler is there to s**t on yourfootprint.
With no moral, no character development and no sense of plot Grown Ups2 would have joined the rest of such movies, since this is clearly notan original type of film. What drags it below the rest is its sexist, homophobic and generally disgusting show of cinema. The only people whocould possibly find enjoyment in this film are the trashy charactersthat star, and judging by how much they laugh at their own jokes, theydid.
Our Rating: 0.5/10

Grown Ups 2 (2013) Review by final-fantasyxcjo from United States
Sandler's first sequel, is even lazier, dumber, and even less funnythen I could have imagined. It's worse than most comedy sequels, andworse then most movies period. It's worse than Grown Ups, for heaven'ssake! There's no plot, none, zip, nada. Characters and gags are set upwithout payoff much like in Jack and Jill. Almost every attempt at ajoke falls flat. Anyone who wants to make a comedy should watch GrownUps 2 as an example of one that does almost everything wrong and whatto and what not to do when directing and making a mainstream comedy.
Almost every joke in this movie is pointless, absolutely pointless. Themovie's first joke: a deer wanders into Sandler's house where it peesin Sandler's face. In a movie that had actual though: this would happennot just because a deer peeing on a man is funny, but for some reasonthat has a point, maybe to show that the family had moved out of thecity and into the country. There is no point, none and only the dumbestof the audience will find this amusing.
Grown Ups 2 is worse then the first and is a close 2nd as the worstSandler movie ever made, nothing in this movie had a point, there is noplot, the whole movie and setup basically everything was lazy and RobSchneider may have actually made one of his best decisions ever byskipping out on not only one of the worst sequels ever but one of theworst comedies I've seen in a long, long time. 1 out of 10. Skip thismovie and go see Pacific Rim or read a book or go outside, DoAnything!! Just Avoid this movie.
Grown Ups 2 (2013) Review by Jwil3698 from United States
Despite being universally panned by critics and movie goers, Grown-Upsmanaged to perform well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel.
The plot follows Lenny (Adam Sandler) who has moved his family to thetown he and his friends grew up in, there he meets up with his friends(Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Nick Swardson.
With the exception of a few additional cast members and many failedattempts at teaching morals, this movie is essentially the first movie. There's virtually no progression of story or character development,it's just one lame gag and pratfall after another.
If you enjoyed the first movie, i say wait for a rental. For everyoneelse, go and see Pacific Rim instead.
